Search Engine Submission & Maintenance:

At the time of this writing, there are over 650,000 search engines. They come and go on a regular basis but mostly the number increases each month. Submitting your site to a search engine requires logging into the search engine site, finding the "Add URL" link, filling out the submission form with site title, description, address and keyword list, then pressing the submit button. While that sounds like minimal work, if you were to attempt this for all of the engines, it would take a very long time.

Fortunately, there is software available to automate this process. The software is updated weekly for current search engines and submission procedures. We use our software to submit your site to these engines. After the submission, it will take up to 6 weeks for your site to appear, and in some cases it may not be listed at all.

After 6 weeks have elapsed, we resubmit only to those engines on which a site did not get listed the first time, but only the top engines get this attention because, at this time, there is no software available to check all the sites. The checking process involves entering keywords in your site and searching. The sites not listing you are then selected and resubmitted.

After your site has been listed, the search engines use automation software called spiders to visit and review your site on a regular basis. When changes are made to the site, the spiders log the changes to the listing database. If your site is unavailable, or too slow, the spiders will remove your site from the listings. This makes it important to have a fast hosting server and one with very little downtime. Realistically, though, all computers experience some downtime through equipment failures. Most, but not all hosting computers are battery backed to keep running in case of power failure.
