Your design firm should provide a site which will either reflect your personality, or present the image of your choosing. Your hosting company should provide technical expertise as well as a fast, reliable Internet connection for your site. Selection of your design firm is best determined by how well their design styles suit the image you want to present. No one designer will suit all customers. Reviewing a potential designer's previous work to see if it "looks and feels" like what you want is a good idea. What you will not learn from this process though is how well the designer satisfied his previous customers.
